Chapter 3 (Case Projects)

1.) D
  • In this case the company should choose the fiber-optic because it leaves more room for growth, and for future needs for increased bandwidth, than thinnet does. Fiber optic also networks operate at high speeds - up into the gigabits and in terms of resistance it has a greater resistance to electromagnetic noise such as radios, motors or other nearby cables. In terms of maintenance fiber optic cables costs much less to maintain.that why the company should choose to use the fiber optic.
2.) D
  • The solution does not delivers the required result because the fiber-optic is most expensive type of all cabling options and difficult to install and reroute.
3.) A
  • The proposed solution for this case delivers the required result and both of the optional desired result because the bandwidth of the category 5 UTP is up to 1000 mbps or 100 MHz.. And this is inexpensive and since that you are the one to work for it this can be easy to install.Category 5 UTP are manufactured with tighter twisted, more precise conductor-to-conductor spacing, and premium insulation - are rated at 350 MHz.
4.) B
  • In this case the proposed solution delivers the required result and only one of the two optional desired result because this technology is not cheap as possible and this can send E-mail and recieve it from the other employees and it is not secure from the electronic eavedropping. But the cost of these technology is expensive, it will pay $2,500 a month, plus air time charges and encryption fees.
5.) A
  • In this case the proposed solution delivers the required result because this device typically generate reasonable strong signals to prevent interference from light resources present in most office environment.

Case Project #1

1. In this case, I would choose server - based network, because it can Provide centralized control over network resourses, primarily by instituting network security and acess controls simplify the network administration. And also it can handle anywhere from a handful to thousand of users, as such networks grow to serve entire organizations or to keep pace with an organization's growth and expansion. As what XYZ Corporation plans, that the from 8 people who are already employed and will hire 10 more in the next 4 months. Since, users will work on multiple projects, and the only those users assigned to any one project should have access to the project files and the concentration of resources also makes data resources easier to back up and maintain. It is more powerful equipment which means, more efficient access to networks resources and it makes the most sense for networks with 10 or more users.
2. In these second case of widgets, Inc. I used to choose the peer-to-peer network because of its easy installment and configuration and their employees canalso control their own shared resources and it doesn't need an administrators to run the network. Users may give every one else unlimited access to their resources. Peer to peer network works best for netwokrs with 10 or maore users. So, there are 6 employed people in the Widgets, Inc. and since, they want the cheapest and possible solution and minimal; training for employees, this netwoking type is inexpensive to puchase and easy to operate.
3. For this case for the American and Die Tool, I used to choose the server - based network, since it opeates two machine shops of different location or branch, then this networking type is ideal to situate servers in special, controlled - access rooms or location separate from normal office or its main branch as work areas. So, they can still able to exchange work order and monitor inventory on demand at two different places and they can still have some control over individual resources because of its centralized control over the network. And they want the network capable of faxing and dial - in services at each location, so server - based network needs to have a fax server.
4. On this case the kind of specialized servers to be install in American and Tool Die is the Fax Server, Because they want to manage fax for a network for receiving incoming faxes via telephone and distributing tem over the network, and collecting outgoing faxxes accross the network before sending them via telephone.
